In facing of the threat of global climate change, more than 130 countries around the world have pledged to achieve the goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, and to keep global warming below 1.5 degrees Celsius. In order to promote the joint carbon reduction of the global industry, many countries have launched emerging trade carbon reduction policies. For example, the EU launched the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) draft in July 2021, which is expected to reduce the amount of high-carbon emission commodities in 2026. Imports are subject to import carbon charges based on their manufactured carbon content.
