Under the supervision of the International Trade Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs, the World Trade Center Taipei (WTC Taipei), operated by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), was awarded four Premier Accredited Member distinctions by the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) on May 23, 2024. These distinctions are in the categories of "Business & Member Services," "Trade Development," "Real Estate” and " Conference & Exhibition Services."
Out of 318 World Trade Centers globally, WTC Taipei is one of only three centers worldwide to have received all four Premier Accredited Member distinctions. TAITRA first participated in the WTCA accreditation program in 2012, achieving remarkable success by being the only center to receive all eight Best Practice certifications at that time.
In 2021, WTCA introduced a new evaluation system, consolidating the evaluation items into four categories. Membership status is determined based on scores, distinguishing between regular members and Premier Accredited Members. WTC Taipei participated for the first time and achieved high scores to earn the Premier Accredited Member certification, demonstrating its exceptional performance. WTCA Chairman John E. Drew stated, "The requirements of this evaluation system are very stringent, and all World Trade Centers that achieve the Premier Accredited Member certification should feel immensely proud." WTCA will also send letters to the mayors of cities with accredited centers, congratulating them on having an internationally recognized trade and economic institution.
As a consistent top performer in WTCA, WTC Taipei emerged victorious from six nominees to win the WTCA "Champion of Innovation" biennial award at the WTCA General Assembly in Bangalore, India, in March 2024. TAITRA Chairman James Huang noted that the largest denomination of Taiwan's new Taiwanese dollar banknotes, the 2,000 NTD banknote, features the World Trade Center Taipei buildings, highlighting WTC Taipei's past contributions to Taiwan's trade and economy. TAITRA will continue to integrate new technologies under the guidance of the International Trade Administration to enhance WTC Taipei's services and reputation.

WTCA has 318 World Trade Centers in business cities across 91 countries, forming an international trade ecosystem that includes economic development organizations, real estate developers, academic institutions, logistics companies, airports, and free zones. TAITRA joined WTCA in 1981 under the name of WTC Taipei and has since leveraged this network to actively strengthen global promotional efforts, receiving significant grassroots support for its overseas presence. In 2021, TAITRA’s President & CEO Simon Wang successfully ran for one of the 21 WTCA board seats, becoming one of the three representatives from the Greater China region, providing Taiwan with a prominent platform to voice its interests in international organizations.
