Taiwan Trade Mission on E-Mobility and Intelligent Transportation in Smart Cities in Indonesia

Indonesia is moving its capital and plans to build a green and smart new one. The new capital, Nusantara, is expected to be a capital model in the world due to the application of world-leading technologies and its pursuit of environmental sustainability. Many Taiwanese companies are dedicated to providing innovative solutions to Indonesia to ensure the plan is successful, so the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) organized an event on intelligent transportation.

On May 31, 2022, TAITRA held the smart city webinar “E-Mobility & Intelligent Transportation with Taiwan Technology.” Speakers came from six Taiwanese companies: CECI Engineering Consultants Inc.,    Master Transportation Bus Manufacturing Ltd., Delta Electronics Inc., Faraday Motor Co., Ltd., Advantech Co., Ltd., and VIVOTEK Inc.

Increasingly more countries are adopting electric vehicles to fight climate change. The speakers introduced advanced, high-efficiency e-buses, e-scooters, and related charging systems from Taiwan. Moreover, Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) technology is essential in building a more intelligent city. The ITS combines the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI), which are the competitive advantages of Taiwan. Therefore, the speakers also introduced their companies’ intelligent and stable transportation systems and shared several success stories during the presentations.

Approximately 100 viewers simultaneously watched the live stream. In addition, the video reached 1000 views within 10 days on YouTube.

After the webinar, six company representatives of the Taiwan trade mission had a meeting with Dr. Resdiansyah, vice president of ITS Indonesia. ITS Indonesia works as a platform for developing smart mobility and a digital transport ecosystem in Indonesia. In the meeting, Dr. Resdiansyah shared the current development of intelligent transport in Indonesia and had a few discussions with the company representatives. The meeting was fruitful, and several of the company representatives wanted to contact ITS Indonesia afterward to get involved in some developing e-mobility projects.

Finally, the six company representatives had 24 one-on-one trade meetings with 16 Indonesian buyers online, and business opportunities worth US $3.1 million were estimated after the meetings.
